CBD and diabetes

CBD and diabetes are interrelated. CBD has shown to be effective in maintaining blood sugar levels and treating diabetes. CBD is extracted from the cannabis plant. It does not create intoxication and is effective in controlling blood sugar levels, reducing inflammation and chronic pain as well. There is a relationship between diabetes and the use of CBD.

What the studies show

Countless studies are conducted on animals such as rats and mice. To prove CBD oil Canada efficient for humans, researches should be done on humans to get a conclusion.

According to a research CBD has shown to give several outcomes such as

  • Increased insulin production
  • Lowering bad cholesterol levels
  • Treating hyperglycemia

In rats, CBD had the following effects.

  • Risks of diabetes

CBD has shown to be effective in lowering the blood glucose levels in rats.

  • Anti-inflammation effects

It also reduces inflammation and relieves pain.

  • Promoting good fats

It removes bad cholesterol from the body and promotes good fats.

Diabetes and THC

CBD and THC have different effects. Some studies showed that CBD is not effective in treating type-II diabetes, but THC helped in such cases. CBD lowered insulin resistance, and it promoted gut hormone levels.

What research says?

Marijuana causes intoxication, whereas CBD has not such properties because it is derived from cannabis. There are some drugs such as Epidiolex which is recently approved from the FDA, which is helpful in treating epilepsy without causing intoxication and making people high. It can be used to cure Lennox Gastaut syndrome and DRavet syndrome, which are the two major forms of epilepsy.

According to a report, the sale of OTC CBD drugs and non-prescribed CBD oils has increased significantly up to 626 million dollars by 2022.

CBD is being used in several other products such as cosmetics including lip balms and mascara to beverages such as alcohol and soda waters.

CBD is effective in treating a range of health conditions. It can be used to treat a variety of human health disorders starting from common disorders such as headaches, anxiety, depression to seizures, post-traumatic disorders, Crohn’s disease, heart-related disorders, bipolar depression, and Parkinson’s disease.

Not just focusing on diabetes

Out of several studies, one study did not show any useful effects by using CBD in the people who have diabetes having abnormal blood sugar and insulin levels. In 2016, it was published in the journal Diabetes Care, that the British people compared the effects of other CBD products such as THCV and CBD oils, on insulin levels, insulin sensitivity and blood sugar. The effects on bad cholesterols were also published. This research was done on 62 people who have type II diabetes.

The people under observation were given CBD oil or CBD products for the consecutive 13 days. The results were surprisingly amazing. THCV was shown to reduce the blood sugar, but CBD did not alter blood sugar levels. CBD showed some changes in resistin that is a protein which increases inflammation, and it involved in insulin resistance.
